I am very glad to see that some of the students from Universities started interesting in making events in their campus. Firstly Barcamp MTU , although external speakers are not allowed to participate and it is an invite-only conference.
Barcamp UCSM was in a rush speed and announced their event just 3days before on their Facebook page. UCSM is abbreviated from University of Computer Study [ Mandalay ] . It is located in a really nice place which is surrounded by green plants , I mean a forest like place.
Leaved Yangon at 9th,August evening and arrived Mandalay at around 10th, August morning , 6:00am . It was a nice morning with rainy weather. They prepared two buses as ferry service to get to their campus which is located outside of the city.
I arrived to the event location at around 8:00 am and joined their opening ceremony. We have some time to prepare our devices and presentations for our sessions. Left is Ko Ei Maung from Fairway and right is Ko Zeyar Oo from Zilpa Tech. I am the guy who was shooting this picture.
Ko Ei Maung , one of the Barcampers who came from Yangon , was giving a speech at open ceremony and started the discussions, sessions and sharing.
After studying topic board and sessions titles , I decided to take my session after lunch time. My session title is ” Some of the things I don’t know” – “What is Mozilla” . Strange ? Yes , I wanted to answer questions from students who are not familiar with things like Raspberry Pi , Web Development and so on.
My sessions started with some questions from audiences at 1pm.After answering some questions , started to show them off about Mozilla. Yeah ONE organization I contributed. I used Brain King’s Mozilla’s contribution paths for my presentation and it was very fun to explain the audience about the presentation contents. I asked some questions about Firefox and gave out some swags.
And started explaining about FirefoxOS , a new born OS by Mozilla. Yeah I have my Keon on hand and show them how it works. They have some questions about KEON also. I answered nicely and let them hand it. Very exciting , they say “WOW”. Is that Firefox as an OS ?
Approximate audience is about 200 students and 50 external participants.
Very glad I could join this kind of University events and will go on for some events too. In this coming 26th,August I am going to make a web maker party in Yangon and welcome to you all.
Thanks
Tin Aung Lin
